Woburn Sculpture Gallery

This is the first in a series of blogs I am publishing to share the beautiful venues who recommend us as their professional string group.

One of our favourite venues who recommends us as their string quartet has to be Woburn Estate.

From the moment you enter the grounds there is always something gorgeous to look at. From the beautiful Rhododendrons, to the wandering majestic deer, to the Woburn Sculpture Gallery and to Woburn Abbey itself I always find myself smiling as I look around.

Real weddings – Dodmoor House

On 3rd October 2015 Ariella String Trio had the pleasure of playing for the wedding of Nicky and Lee at one of our favourite wedding venues, Dodmoor House.

We are very privileged to be one of the recommended suppliers for Dodmoor House – we know the staff and venue very well and can’t recommend them highly enough!

Although it was Autumn we were lucky with the weather and it wasn’t too cold! All the guests were able to enjoy their drinks outside and we had lots of requests for pop and rock, especially Metallica!!!

Our Bride and Groom, Nicky and Lee, were absolutely lovely – a real pleasure to work with and they had chosen some fab music! Their guests thought it was amazing that we were playing all sorts of pop and rock music!

Here are some photos I took of the wedding – some lovely work from the wedding suppliers the couple had chosen. We are really lucky to get to see the finished results of each of our couples’ months of planning!

The beautiful cake was created by Shelly from “La Belle Cake Company” who we have had the pleasure of working with many times!

Venue dressing was by Gems Celebrations – Wedding and Event Hire. We work with this company often and I am always blown away by how they transform venues! Totally professional, this company is no.1 on our recommended list!

I must admit to being a little biased about this as purple is my FAVOURITE colour!!

The flowers were beautifully arranged by “By Arrangement Floristry”

The photographer was Rob Lunan of Welcome Photography  – lovely to finally meet him!

We were very well looked after by Delicious Catering a company we had never worked with before but our sarnies were LOVELY!! Thank you!

Of course, no wedding is ever complete at Dodmoor without the lovely Geoffrey who loves us to fuss her! She is a great favourite especially with the children at weddings!

Sometimes, at weddings and events, we get to see some really unusual sights! Thought I would share this lady’s handbag with you! I have a friend who loves PUGS so I took this photo for her! Hope you enjoy!!

Until next time…………………!!

Ariella Strings ~ Wedding reading inspiration ~ Readings from Children’s books!

We always love it when a reading is taken from a children’s book! Really makes me smile! I have blogged about this before but quite a while ago – I think it is time for a reminder!! Could you have any of these lovely readings read at your wedding ceremony?

The first reading I would like to share is The Velveteen Rabbit –  The enchanting story of how a toy was loved so much he became real.

EXCERPT FROM THE VELVETEEN RABBIT
~ By Margery Williams ~

”What is REAL?” asked the Rabbit one day, when they were lying side by side near the nursery fender, before Nana came to tidy the room. “Does it mean having things that buzz inside you and a stick-out handle?”

“Real isn’t how you are made,” said the Skin Horse. “It’s a thing that happens to you. When a child loves you for a long, long time, not just to play with, but Really loves you, then you become Real.”

“Does it hurt?” asked the Rabbit.

“Sometimes,” said the Skin Horse, for he was always truthful. “When you are Real you don’t mind being hurt.”

“Does it happen all at once, like being wound up,” he asked, “or bit by bit?”

“It doesn’t happen all at once,” said the Skin Horse. “You become. It takes a long time. That’s why it doesn’t happen often to people who break easily, or have sharp edges, or who have to be carefully kept. Generally, by the time you are Real, most of your hair has been loved off, and your eyes drop out and you get all loose in the joints and very shabby. But these things don’t matter at all, because once you are Real you can’t be ugly, except to people who don’t understand.”
