Happy New Year everyone!
We had our first wedding of this year on 6th January at Hedsor House!
Look who we met as we drove along the long driveway!
Hedsor House is one of the top 10 filming locations in the UK. A fabulous house with 100 rooms, surrounded by 85 acres of parkland. The house has been used as a film location for both television dramas and feature films including The Golden Compass (starring Nicole Kidman and Daniel Craig) and Quartet, a 2012 comedy drama film directed by Dustin Hoffman.
In the movie “Quartet”, Hedsor House features as “Beecham House”, the retirement home for musicians at which the film is set. Perhaps that is where the musicians of Ariella Strings will end up in a few years!!!?
However, there is much more history to this house than being just a filming location. Please do take some time to pop to the website to have a read!
Jackie and Michael booked Ariella Strings last summer (2013). They originally booked our string duo but decided, just before Christmas, to change to the string trio. The couple live in France so our prime communication was via email and for their music consultation meeting we used skype! We always prefer to speak to our clients face to face if it is at all possible.
The Wedding Day – Monday 6th January 2014
As always, Hedsor House looked stunning and I was really excited to be met by the rather gorgeous Christmas tree which had not yet been taken down!
Here are a few more photos with the festive feel:
Jackie and Michael asked for some easy listening classical music for their guests to listen to while they were waiting for the Bridal party to arrive. A particular preference was Vivaldi Four Seasons and some lighter classical music. Jackie and her Bridal party made their entrance to Canon in D by Pachelbel. They all looked absolutely stunning! I still get a lump in my throat at weddings – a hopeless romantic!
This was certainly an internationally attended wedding. There were guests from many different countries. Michael, the Groom, is French, Jackie is from Ireland, then South Africa and now lives in France. Jackie’s Mom is from South Africa and her Dad, Irish! The 3 readings were in French, English and then Italian so a very interesting mix of nationalities!
We very much enjoyed playing for the signing of the register:
Rule the World, Take That
A Thousand Years, Christina Perri
When we spoke with Jackie afterwards she said she and Michael were singing along to “Rule the World” while they were signing the register!! That is just what we like to hear!!!
The couple exited to the very traditional but happy “Wedding March” from Mendelssohn’s Midsummer Night’s Dream.
The Drinks Reception and Wedding Breakfast
We followed the guests to the drinks reception and set up to entertain with the playlist especially chosen by our couple! They chose well and there was a lot of singing and toe tapping!!
During our comfort break I slipped away to look at the wedding breakfast setup in the ballroom!! Just look at this!!
Caper and Berry were responsible for the catering and set up!
The wedding cake was fabulous and provided by one of our top wedding supplier colleagues Melissa Woodland Cakes. We have worked with Melissa in the wedding industry for a few years now and her work is always of top quality and the service she offers is the best around!
Today we met a really lovely photographer – Natasha Thompson A huge coincidence is that Natasha lives about 3 miles away from us!! It was great to make such a local contact and I am sure we will bump into her again on the wedding suppliers network! You can see a preview of her pictures of the day HERE
A very lovely start to another wedding season. I hope you have enjoyed the photographs! The wedding season really starts in earnest in March but in the meantime we do have another 4 weddings to enjoy at Rushton Hall, Dodmoor House, The Swan Hotel and Barton Hall.
See you next time!
