On Saturday 7th June we had the pleasure of being booked to play for a local wedding in Milton Keynes. We love playing locally. For us, as musicians, we enjoy getting to work alongside other local wedding suppliers and more often than not we bump into guests we know personally!!
Our string trio played for Angela and Rob at St Mary’s Church, Woughton on the Green, Milton Keynes followed by their drinks reception next door at the Mercure Parkside Hotel. Ariella Strings are the official recommended string group for Parkside- we have worked alongside the staff at this hotel for many years so it is a bit like a home from home! The staff are brilliant and nothing is ever too much trouble!
The day started with some pretty lousy weather so you can imagine the delight when, just before the ceremony was due to start, the sun came out! What a treat for our couple and their guests! In fact, the sun stayed out for the rest of the day and the drinks reception took place outside!
For the guests assembling in the Church Angela and Rob chose a programme of light classical music. As a complete contrast Angela’s processional music was Tonight, Tonight by the Smashing Pumpkins! Classical music is something that is associated with a string group so it was a fab surprise for the couples’ guests when we started playing pop!!
We arrived at Parkside Hotel to find everything set up for both the couple and for ourselves!
The beauty about playing locally is that we tend to bump into people we know personally. We also bump into other local wedding suppliers. Today was no exception!
We had the pleasure of working alongside Emily Little of Emily Little Photography. Emily’s studio is actually in the same area of Milton Keynes as Ariella Strings. She took some shots of us after we had all finished working! We look forward to bumping into Emily again on our wedding adventures!
